The EC-grade aluminum rod, with a diameter of 9.5 mm, is a continuous casting product manufactured by melting aluminum ingots with a purity exceeding 99.70% (whereas the reference standard specifies a minimum purity of 99.50%). These rods are made of 1350-series aluminum and are typically utilized in H12 and H14 tempers; they feature a circular cross-section.
These rods are widely used in the wire and cable industry. Aluminum wires employed in overhead line conductors—such as ACSR and AAC—are produced through the drawing and sizing of these aluminum rods. Consequently, the electrical resistance and tensile strength of the rods must ensure that the resulting wire is suitable for the manufacture of the aforementioned conductors.
In addition to the application mentioned above, these rods serve other purposes, such as acting as a deoxidizer in the steel industry; they are also utilized in refrigeration industries.
