AAAC Conductors

All-Aluminum Alloy Conductors (AAAC) are a type of conductor used in overhead power lines. All strands within these conductors are made of 6101 or 6201 aluminum alloy and are stranded together. Compared to the 6101 alloy, the 6201 alloy wires offer slightly higher tensile strength but lower electrical conductivity.
The greater the number of strands, the higher the resulting conductor’s electrical conductivity and tensile strength. These conductors are manufactured with 7, 19, 37, 61, or 91 strands, resulting in configurations ranging from 1 to 5 layers.
Compared to AAC conductors, these conductors exhibit superior mechanical properties and reduced sag. When compared to ACSR conductors, they offer higher electrical conductivity, lower weight, and superior corrosion resistance. They also possess a higher strength-to-weight ratio; however, they are more expensive than the two aforementioned conductor types.
